human touch

had an interesting chat with ms lin after watching avatar (a great movie! btw), about human portraying or adding a human touch to unknown-things or wutever it is that is a protagonist to a story, such as all aliens hv to look or act like human beings in one way or another, and "things" like a sponge, they need to give sponge bob his eyes ears nose mouth hand hand leg leg to make it (or him?) popular.

n ms lin's view on this is that it's hard for human being to relate to something that we can't look into the eyes, such as a blank sheet of blanket. to which i totally agree. n just to test test if others feel the same, below is a little experiment....

hypothesis: humans can related better when there's "human feature" or "human touch" to them

methodology: compare 2 versions of pictures, n u lemme know which one u can "relate" more to....

first a version a...
and now, added slightly a human touch in version b...
which one can u "relate" more to ne? (notice that i used the word "more"...so it's just on a relative scale, not absolute scale)
p.s. i can't, for both :P wahahha

or it is not about "human" touch. We add eyes legs hands and so on to 'things' not because wanna make them 'human'. it just comes out of our understanding that all moving creatures have eye eye leg leg hand hands.... but it is true that we human being tends to compose those creatures according to our way (e.g. leg at the bottom... eyes above nos..etc)

great movie. may do second time.

yup..which kinda reminds me of the alien in dr. slump - with nose on top of his butt, and butt on top and head on bottom...hehe
